Start Date: | Saturday, 22nd September 2018 |
End Date: | Sunday, 23rd September 2018 |
Opening Times: | Preliminarily, 10am – 4pm. Our opening times are dictated by those of the Wildwood Trust Discovery Park. We close an hour before they close. |
Location: | We are located deep in the Kent wilderness and inaccessable from public land, see access below |
Access: | Access is only via the Wildwood Trust Discovery Park, a nature reserve filled with many animals which would have been
widespread in England at the times of the Anglo-Saxons. There is a gate at the far end of the park to our site. Wildwood's address is:
Wildwood Trust
Herne Common Herne Bay Kent CT6 7LQ |
Accessibility: | On-site, be aware that the ground might not be even, and may be muddy. Most of the site is accessible to wheelchair users, there are only a few steps. |
Prices: | You must buy a ticket to access Wildwood. We get no revinue from their ticket sales, and will ask for donations. Feel free
to look around before you decide whether to donate. (Please donate – the roof needs fixing.) |
What's there? | The main attraction is the reconstruction of a manorial burgh of 1000 years ago, including the centrepiece – the meadhall. There will be various ancient crafts and skills on display, contemporary with the year we are reenacting. Time your visit well (usually early afternoon), and you'll see a clash of armed warriors as a local dispute gets out of hand. |
